Box Card Tutorial

Box cards are popping up everywhere online, they are a bit out of the ordinary being dimensional instead of  flat. Saying that.... This type of card collapses sideways so it can fit into a 6"x 6" envelope.

Here's a box card completed in a masculine theme created with Father's Day in mind.
I pulled out my treasured Cheery Lynn Designs dies and decided on some nautical & steam punk themed dies, very masculine and perfect for dad.

There is a panel added to the back where a message can be added. This is the card folded flat ready to go in the envelope.

Box Card Tutorial

1. Cut card 8 1/4" x 9".
2. Score along 9" end at 2 1/8", 4 1/4" and 8 1/2".
3. Turn 90 degrees, score at 2 3/4".
4. Place 8 1/4" side at top and the 2 3/4" score to the left of the card
Cut to measure 6". Save the cutoff for later use.
5. Measure cutoff to 3 1/8", trim making sure to include the tab.
You should have a tab at each end, Cut in half at 1 1/8".
Fold tabs into a 'Z', add double sided tape and put aside.
6. Put main card with 2 3/4" side at the top & cut along the  small
square score lines to create flaps.
Trim off tiny strip left over, you don't need it.
7. Fold on all score lines, add tape to adhere the box together.
8. Add a piece of card 2" wide, customise the length to suit to the back for a message.
9. Decorate the flaps.
10. Cut paper 2" x 2 5/8", To double layer 2nd layer will be 1 7/8" x 2 1/2".
11. Decorate outside bottom of box.
12. Cut first layer 3 1/8" x 2", 2nd layer will be 3" x 1 7/8".
13. Add the 2 "Z" strips to the inside across the box.
These panels are where you add your die cuts or flowers etc.
14. Embellish the box card to your hearts content.

Have fun!
